A Milestone for Indiana Students
Indiana’s recent announcement of automatic college acceptance for students earning the Enrollment Honors Plus diploma seal is a bold and welcome step forward. Under this new policy, students who meet the seal’s rigorous criteria will be granted admission to all seven of Indiana’s public colleges and universities—including premier institutions like Indiana University and Purdue University. This landmark initiative not only streamlines the transition from high school to higher education but also sends a clear message: Indiana is investing in student achievement and expanding awareness about, and access to, postsecondary opportunities.
What is the Enrollment Honors Plus Seal?
The Enrollment Honors Plus seal is designed to recognize students who demonstrate college readiness through a blend of academic excellence, advanced coursework, and real-world experience. To earn the seal, students must complete the following:
- Academic Excellence: Earn a ‘C’ or better in all courses and maintain a cumulative ‘B’ average.
- Advanced Coursework: Complete college-level learning through Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), dual credit, or dual enrollment programs.
- Work-Based Learning (WBL): Accumulate at least 75 hours of work-based learning experiences—paid or unpaid, on-site or simulated.
- Essential Skills: Demonstrate mastery of workplace-ready skills, including communication, collaboration, and work ethic.
This rigorous and well-rounded approach ensures that students are not only eligible for college—but truly prepared to succeed.
