A Remarkable Pilot Year at MTI
This year marked the pilot year of the CSA program at MTI, and it was a resounding success. 35 students who enrolled in this brand-new program not only completed it, but are now officially Certified Community Health Workers (CCHWs). That’s an extraordinary achievement, especially for a first-year initiative, and it speaks volumes about the school’s commitment to supporting every student’s journey. Recognizing that transportation could be a barrier, the program thoughtfully incorporated virtual field placements, allowing students to simulate work as a CCHW in various community and healthcare settings. To further enhance their learning, each student also participated in a full-day in-person experience, giving them a valuable opportunity to apply their skills in a real-world setting. This innovative approach ensured that every student had the opportunity to gain real-world experience and build essential skills, no matter their circumstances. With their CCHW certification and field experience, these students are now equipped to make a meaningful difference in their communities.

How Anam Makes a Difference
Anam provides comprehensive support at MTI, including:
- Academic planning and course management
- College and career counseling
- Emotional support and mentorship
But her impact reaches far beyond the daily routine. She even hosts a dedicated Career+ class for CSA students, ensuring they have focused time to work on their program requirements and stay on track. Through job shadowing, career panels, and real-world experiences, Anam sparks excitement and builds confidence in every student, helping them see that their goals are truly within reach.
“My ultimate goal,” Anam shares, “is for each student to acknowledge their talent and reach for the stars so they can shine bright and make a difference.”
A Partnership That Powers Progress
This pilot year was also made possible through Career+’s partnership with ASPIN, which provided comprehensive training and certification for the Certified Community Health Worker (CCHW) credential. This partnership ensured that every student, no matter their background or circumstance, had the opportunity to gain a valuable credential and real-world skills that open doors to future success.

“Even if I’m absent one day or busy with meetings,” she says, “it amazes me that students actually notice and miss me… Honestly, that proves to me that I’m making a difference in their lives.”
A Moment of Reflection
When asked what she’s learned most from her role, Anam reflects:
“I’ve learned that to be a successful counselor, I must multitask and complete everything accordingly. It’s a beautiful and adventurous roller coaster ride that I’m proud to experience every day.”
Outside the Office
When she’s not making magic at MTI, Anam loves traveling, playing sports with her four children, and catching up over tea with friends. Her family and community are her greatest sources of strength and joy.
